The Federal Statistical Office reported on January 9, 2012 that German exports for the month of November 2011 totalled 94.9 billion Euro, while imports totalled 78.7 billion Euro.
As a result, nominal exports were up 8.3 percent and nominal imports up 6.7 percent in current prices in year-on-year terms. In monthly terms, exports rose by 2.5 percent over October 2011 (adjusted for calendar and seasonal variations), while imports dropped by 0.4 percent.
About the healthy export figures, Rösler further stated: “It is encouraging to see that the German export economy is doing well despite the difficult global economic environment. The economies of industrial countries, which take almost 80 percent of our exports, are experiencing problems at the moment.
The fact that we can still expand our trade in spite of this clearly serves to underline the outstanding competitiveness of our export industry. We must now put all of our efforts into strengthening the robust development of our domestic economy whilst perpetuating our success in terms of foreign trade and investment."
