Germany commits 39 million Euro to power infrastructure in Kenya
During a visit to Kenya by Dr. Ulrich Schroeder, CEO of KfW Bankengruppe, an agreement was signed to expand the country's energy infrastructure. Dr. Schroeder, along with the German Ambassador in Nairobi, also met the Minister of Energy, Honourable Kiraitu Murungi.
German Ambassador to Kenya Margit Hellwig-Boette and a delegation from KfW Bankengruppe were received by the Honourable Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance at the Kenyan Ministry of Finance on November 16, 2010.

The KfW team was led by the group CEO, Dr. Ulrich Schroeder, who was visiting the country for the first time. The KfW Delegation was accompanied by a team of renowned German journalists.
During this meeting, a financial agreement was signed between the Kenya Generating Company Ltd (KenGen) and KfW totalling 39 million Euro (3.9 Billion Kshs). The funds are to be used primarily for the expansion of the Kindaruma Hydropower Plant.
The Permanent Secretary in Kenya's Ministry of Energy, Mr. Patrick Nyoike, and the KenGen Managing Director, Mr. Eddy Njoroge, signed the agreement on behalf of the Kenyan parties.
Prior to signing the agreement, Dr. Schroeder and Ambassador Hellwig-Boette paid a courtesy call to Kenya's Minister of Energy, Honourable Kiraitu Murungi.
