The 3rd German European Business Trade Fair (GEREU) took place from September 29 to October 2, 2010, at the Accra International Conference Centre.  GEREU is a five-day industrial trade fair focused on growing small to medium enterprises by exposure to the international market. The trade fair provides an international platform for foreign companies to showcase and supply their products and services to the Ghanaian market and is focused on investment goods for industries.

Enlarge image GEREU 2010 (© Ghanaian-German Economic Association) The trade fair has established itself as the largest international industrial trade fair for West Africa, with 50 exhibiting companies from all over the world and professional visitors from the ECOWAS region.

As the major exhibitor this year, the nutrition section of BASF established new contacts to the regional food and beverage industry, which might let to further market activities.

Within the section of renewable energies, leading companies displayed the latest trends in solar energy. The Ghanaian Government meanwhile is working on the introduction of a law on renewable energy which would create the second largest market for renewables in sub-Saharan Africa. Suppliers for the mining industry were present, such as the KSB Group, Komatsu, Lohrmann and many more.

The ICT sector was in the spotlight during the fair, with all visitors filling in a survey and being registered electronically.

Participants came from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and South Africa. Furthermore three trade delegations from Austria, Germany and  Sierra Leone where exhibiting their technologies at the trade fair.

Insurance & Risk Management, Automotive, Plant Installation & Mining Machinery, Telecommunications Chemicals, Solar Energy, Wood processing, Transport, Logistics & Inspection, Printing, ICT, Electronics, Work Wear, Hotels/Travel and Tours and Tracking Intelligence Systems/Securities

GEREU 2011 will take place from 28th September to 1st October2011 at the Accra International Conference Centre. Besides showcasing the major investment goods for West Africa, it will also incorporate the Africa –German ICT Conference and the Renewable Energy Conference.
