Welcome

Ladies and Gentlemen

Welcome to the homepage of the German Consulate General in Cape Town. Thank you for taking an interest in Germany and German-South African relations.

In their daily work, staff at the Consulate General in Cape Town are able to observe how close the relationship between Germany and South Africa is in general, but even more so at the Cape. Many of the Cape's inhabitants have ancestors who emigrated from Germany. Many Germans have settled in the region only recently or spend (some of) their retirement years here. Mutual ties and esteem are also cemented by au-pair work and academic studies undertaken by young South Africans in Germany. In addition, economic relations and co-operation between universities and research institutions are deepening.
With our website we would like to give you the opportunity to obtain information on the latest developments in Germany itself as well as Germany's bilateral relations with South Africa. The website offers information on Germany and what the country has to offer to trade partners and scientists from abroad. The website also introduces the various services provided by the Consulate General.
We strive to provide up-to-date information to cater for diverse interests and needs. When it comes to bilateral relations our focus is on the three Cape provinces only.

We welcome (critical) comments and suggestions.
