Responsibility, partnership, dialogue - these are the cornerstones and values of German foreign policy. Education is a central  resource in a globalised world. That is why the German Foreign Office and its partners have established  long-term educational partnerships with a worldwide network of 1,500 partner schools. We want the young people in these partner schools to become interested in learning the German language and we hope to open doors for them to get in touch with German culture, sciences and its economy. The sooner we realise that we are an international learning community, the better we will be able to take advantage of opportunities the future has to offer.

We want to be open to diverse cultures and tolerant towards other people's individuality. For this purpose, we need, more than ever,  places where young people can meet, learn and be creative together. Our partner schools abroad are such places. Herewith I cordially invite you to acquaint yourselves with these schools

PASCH three years on – a positive assessment

A global network of schools is being built through the PASCH partner school initiative. The partner schools initiative has been quite a success: the network includes 1500 schools, about 1000 more than in 2008. Twenty-three German Schools abroad have joined, 430 additional schools are introducing the German language diploma, and another 509 new members of the network are introducing German as a foreign language or expanding their teaching of German. Pupils at these schools are not just given the opportunity to learn German and enjoy German education. This cultural relations initiative is designed to arouse a lasting interest in modern-day Germany and the German language in young people.
