International Literature prize honours writer and translators

Mark your calendars: In just under a month the House of World Culture (Haus der Kulturen der Welt) in Berlin will present the winners of its International Literature Prize. Since 2009, the prize has been awarded to the author of an outstanding foreign-language work of international prose fiction and its translator.

The German Fashion Industry Foundation announces its 2013 call for participants for the European Fashion Award. This year's theme is “SEXes” and explores how men's and women's fashion are interconnected. The winning prize is valued at 80,000 Euro. The submission deadline is October 25, 2012.

To mark the 300th anniversary in 2012 of Frederick the Great (1712-1786), an extensive jubilee exhibition will take place in Potsdam from April 28 to October 28. The “Friederisiko” exhibition is on show in more than 70 rooms of the New Palace and in Sanssouci Park, providing insights into the everyday life of one of the most outstanding yet controversial figures in German history.

International Academy of Journalism accepting applications for 2012

After its first successful year, the “International Academy of Journalism” (Intajour) has announced a call for applications for its second class. Journalists worldwide may now apply online for the 2012 fellowships. The training program takes place over ten months beginning in September, with three sections taught in Germany. Application deadline is May 7.

Joint Adventures is calling for submissions for the fifth Choreographic Captures Competition, a competition that encourages artists to explore “new aesthetic approaches and visual languages for choreography and film”.
