Kingdoms of Lesotho and Swaziland
The German Embassy Pretoria is the diplomatic representative of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of South Africa, as well as the Kingdoms of Swaziland and Lesotho. The Legal and Consular Section also has the jurisdiction for the Kingdoms of Swaziland and Lesotho.
Diplomatic relations between Germany and Lesotho were established in 1966. Bilateral relations are close and based on trust, and there are frequent close consultations between the two countries in international bodies. For many years, bilateral relations with Lesotho were largely dominated by German development cooperation. Bilateral relations with Germany have traditionally been good and amicable. There is cooperation in combating poverty, in promoting industry, trade and investment in Swaziland and not least in cultural exchange and promoting development in the area of sport.
