Research and development are the basis for innovative technological developments of tomorrow. The wide range of innovative ideas and products from Germany is based on broad scientific and applied research, in areas such as environmentally- and climate-friendly technologies, information and communication technologies, but also life and social sciences, executed by numerous research institutions and companies alike.
Germany's “innovation Oscar”, the German Future Prize 2011, was awarded to three scientists who developed a highly efficient form of organic electronics. President Christian Wulff presented the award on December 14 in Berlin.
